TALL GRASS REDUX
Hi all,
The graphic above is extracted from the Palm Beach County Property Appraisers site.
-
REF:
-
The property outside of the red line along Haverhill Road, belongs to Palm Beach County.
-
Could we pick up the trash and cut the grass? what a wonderful charitable act, i'm sure the County would greatly appreciate this act; Oh my, who would pay for this? Hmmmm! our unit owners!
-
Give me a break folks...UCO will indeed call upon the County to do their duty, as we have on many occasions; but don't hold your breath waiting for them to respond.

TRIMMING TREES
Hi all,
A question came to me from a unit owner that is of interest to all CV residents, identification has been redacted for privacy:
“Hi David,
I need your opinion on the subject of cutting trees in Century Village. I think someone told me there are rules and regulations from either CV or the State of Florida that dictate what, how and when you can cut or trim certain species of plants/bushes/trees.
Can you provide me with any information or tell me where to get up to speed on what you can or cannot do here?
thank you,”
.....................................................................
The regulations you seek are contained in Unified Land Development Code, there is a highly readable presentation at the following URL:

Porte Cochere Landscaping
Whatever is happening to the plants along the front of the porte cochere at the clubhouse! They are hacked and dying or dead. Water shortage? These plants were beautifully chosen so they would need NO TRIMMING for height!! Ferns, Ti, iris, and small palms all have graceful fronds that need very little attention. They are not intended to be butchered into short mounds or a square hedge, that ruins their look!!! Beautification and Operations should go see. Even a tall palm is damaged probably by someone on a ladder.
It looks awful and has probably cost us a bundle.

Save our $$ - STOP Cutting Palms

According to Code and experts NONE of our palms need trimming, it only makes money for landscapers. Trimming increases palms need for water and fertilizer. See Jarriel currently overpruning near the CV 4-way. Someone talked us into this because they made no hurricane money!
Pruning Palms
GREEN FRONDS – Do not remove ANY green fronds especially above the horizontal.
YELLOW FRONDS - Avoid removing, these still feed the plant.
BROWN FRONDS - OK to remove if desired.
SEEDS & FLOWERS - OK to remove if desired.
Palm canopies should be 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock
Over-pruned palms look terrible and could attract pests. Edward F. Gilman UF IFAS.
