JUDGE POULTON'S TRANSPORTATION ORDER

NEW CV BUS TO ARRIVE ON JANUARY 1, 2012
-
Hi all,
Occasionally, I am asked why our CV bus system is a common expense. It is so, because of a court case decided in 1983. (Official Records, Book 3961 Page 1864)

The decision is to be found at the following URL:

http://goo.gl/PoGn8

Judge Poulton's decision may also be accessed from the sidebar under Core Documents.

This is a reasonable decision devolving from Condominium living. In due course of time, we may all require the buss to get around. We have one of the finest transportation systems in Florida, try it, and  enjoy.

Time is of the essence, and the rules are simple:

1) The logo graphics must be "appropriate" and CV-centric. (Related to and representative of Century Village, West Palm Beach)

2) The graphics may include text and picture.

3) The graphics package may be hand drawn or computer designed.

IT IS TIME FOR GREEN, BATTERY POWERED BUSES IN CV

Rep. Deutch at Florida Green Energy & Climate Convention: America Must Lead on Renewables
Last Tuesday, Congressman Ted Deutch addressed business leaders, local officials, and climate advocates at a statewide convention on green energy in Florida. There, he argued the United States must step up federal investments in renewables or risk being outpaced by other nations in the global race for green energy jobs.

Rep. Deutch recently voted against the Republican budget, which protects subsidies for the oil industry but cuts federal loans for green energy startups and grants for research on innovative renewable technologies.

"The very future of our economy and America's energy security are hanging in the balance as petty political battles are played out in Congress," he said. "There are millions of American jobs waiting to be created by encouraging growth in ocean current technology, solar power, biofuel development, high capacity batteries, and green engineering."

Have a seat, no thanks!

Have you seen the 2 benches at the bus stops just inside our Haverhill entrance. Did the Transportation Cmte design those? Did anyone follow District 4 Transit Facilities Guidelines, or any of the plentiful Florida and DOT design plans? We are, after all, a small city.
A guard thought they were basically rest areas for walkers. I would not sit on the incoming bench. Sitting there my toes would be 2 feet from the traveled portion of the road and there is not even a curb. Guidelines for benches are: that they should be more than 10 feet back from the road and should have a 6" curb as well. Of course our car drivers would never wander 2 feet over!!
Generally accident data show that bus stops are not a good idea on the near side of an intersection and traffic light - on the plus side our drivers say there is no one at those stops, out of 5 drivers they have seen a total of 3 riders there in the past month.
There is already a rest bench close to the guard house, and bus stops at the 4-way. Did we really need more? Safety Cmte!
PS Did you know there are anti-vagrant benches, they have bars to prevent laying on them.
