BLOG NAME TO CHANGE

Hi all,
I have been advised by W.P.R.F., Inc. that their legal department wants the Century Village brand name to be removed from the BLOG.


It is not a real problem, but I would like to ask all of our BLOG members to suggest new names for the BLOG in the Comment Stream.


One idea I have been considering is monetizing the BLOG (yes, that would mean ads) and turning it over to the UCO Reporter. Perhaps then re-naming it to something like "UCO-Reporter-in-Cyberspace.wpb.blogspot.com" but this would probably require a vote of the Delegate Assembly.


So, please give this some thought and respond with a comment.

Not Much Summer Posting

The 80 Blog authors (members) must be too busy to post because they are reading through Dave's Info Project pdf's I received 21 pdf's so far! Another reflection of the astonishing amount of work that goes into UCO.

Dave, is the Information Forward Initiative (IFI) just for Delegates, or also for anyone who wants to be more involved? How about a post on the IFI? Is that the best acronym! Do villagers know they can look in on all kinds of meetings?

Century Village Internet site

I want to thank whomever is responsible for maintaining the Century Village Internet site which I am guessing are many. It is great that we can get up to date information on a daily basis and also to voice our opinion. Having documents that you can read, print out, or download is a very helpful tool.

Recently I have had the need to write out two Certificate of Approval forms. I knew we had them on the left side bar of the blog. I was not sure how to use the form or if I could download it. I opened it up and at the top left hand side was a download icon and I was on my way. I was able to type out the names then print the form. No, you cannot save it to your computer but you can scan it back in or make a hard copy for your files if you want one. This is all thanks to our president, David Israel who had the foresight to make our jobs easier when possible by adding many interactive forms on the left side bar of the blog. Many thanks, Dave. We are very fortunate to have you as our president.

WHY GEORGETOWN TEXAS?

Hi all,
From the inception of our BLOG, we have had consistent heavy visits from the city of Georgetown Texas. I have wondered why. Finally I did some research this evening and I have the answer. One of the oldest and most venerable Age Restricted communities is located in Georgetown Texas. it is Sun City the Del Webb community.

It would be nice perhaps to establish a "sister city" relationship with Sun City and exchange some of our experiences as Senior Citizen communities. So, we in West Palm Beach Century Village would enjoy hearing from Sun City residents. The "swearing" in the sidebar

Have you ever noticed the odd characters in the left sidebar of the blog, where there are partial quotes from blogs and comments? It looks like swearing, but of course I know it is not. Here are some samples from today, but you will have to check the actual sidebar, because I cannot make them appear on this blog:

At first I thought these characters replaced words, but it appears (from this small sampling) they do not, and that they only replace apostrophes or quotation marks, although maybe some other punctuation marks get replaced as well. It would be interesting to notice.

One of these days someone will dream up a really great posting or comment that if quoted in the sidebar will make it look like a heap of swearing was intended. For now, how about the following, which is pretty mild:

What makes life frustrating for UCO? It is sometimes the CV owners' lack of participation.

I would be interested to see what happens to that apostrophe if anyone would like to put the above sentence in the sidebar.

Changing Someone's Post

I was just reading the recent Naturist Club Petition post and read in the Comments what was said about changing someone's post. Apparently the post was changed or added to in some way, and apparently this was all done in good fun and received as such. I think, though, that changing someone's post should be a no-no. It was done recently to one of my posts, and I think I know why: I was in error about what I said about a person. In the instance, the change to my post was trivial and appropriate, but I think this sets a dangerous precedent. The posts must be monitored, I know, and some outright removed. If a correction is in order, I think one of three things should be done: Set the record straight by a follow-up Comment; ask the writer's permission to change the post; or delete the Post entirely. This would be a judgment call by those who can make changes.

Could it be on this web blog site ?

I was thinking could there be a search on the blog, that you could type in a question about Century Village, that might have been asked before, and typed into search on this site to find the answer? Or some type of guide with most asked questions about the Village.

BLOGGER USE

Dave, How many bloggers do we have using this blog?. The old century village web site seemed to have many more users, perhaps because it was so much easier. I wish we had new people, I am geting tired of the same users, I would like to hear new ideas.
This blog is not user friendly.

Why does the logo have to say unofficial C V Blog ? Why not just C V Blog ? The top page just has Century Village @ in West Palm Beach, I know at delegate meeting voted this not to be offical web site for Century Village for U.C.O. Just a thought that came to me.
