Somebody took the Amtrack Auto-Train from Lorton to Sanford?
I am thinking to take the Amtrak Auto-Train from Lorton VA to Sanford FLA next November to come to CV.
Does somebody took it? What do you think about it?
Were you able to sleep? Was about your experience?
Thank you!

SAY NO TO SYRIA!
Hi folks ,
I just sent an E -Mail to My US Senator and My US Congressman urging them to vote no on attacking Syria . America has spent enough treasure and lives on the politician's Vietnam , Iraq and Afghan Wars. Spend our tax dollars on putting people back to work and taking care of the vets who have had their lives and their families destroyed by these wars to enrich the Military Industrial Complex . The Middle East is not our responsibility, the American middle class is hanging on by a thread and these loony politicians want to get America in another war. If They vote yes on Syria , vote them out of office in their next election. I'm so disgusted with the whole lot of them.
Tell them Enough!

WIFi Meeting
Homeliest Competition
Who has homeliest face in CV? This is Florida Softshell Turtle (Apalone ferox) ferox means ferocious. This lady is as big as a large dinner plate and can bite off the end of your finger. She is probably looking for a place to lay her eggs in Sussex! The snorkel nose is for hanging out under water.
Florida softshell turtles are almost entirely aquatic, but can move fast both in water and on land. They are commonly seen basking in the sun on logs or muddy banks or in floating vegetation. Florida softshell turtles are known for being extremely aggressive and will snap or scratch at anything within reach with their sharp jaws and claws if they are handled or feel threatened.

To Lovely Olga:
No one is legally permitted to post anything on another's property and
yesterday you and your malcontents posted an untrue letter about our
brilliant and honest President, David Israel, on I believe all the Association's
bulletin boards. I suggest that you and your malcontents go to all the
bulletin boards that you posted on yesterday and remove the untruthful
garbage and put them in the blue bins that is for paper and if you refuse
to do so I believe you will be reprimanded. You seem to enjoy doing
unlawful gestures which to me I would find that very boring.

MALCONTENTS ORCHESTRATE ATTACK ON VILLAGE WIFI BUDGET ITEM
Hi all
-
Today Our UCO Treasurer conducted an excellent meeting of the Finance Committee. The Agenda was to examine and vote on the first pass of the UCO budget for 2014!
-
The meeting proceeded very well as line item after line item was debated; until we arrived at the line item for Wi-Fi.
-
At this point an orchestrated attack on the Wi-Fi initiative was launched by four persons. The same four persons who regularly disrupt our Delegate Assembly meeting every month, and who have done so for almost three years.
-
Two of these unit owners are actually suing us and seeking to be paid some $390,000.00.
-
In due course of time the budget will come before the Delegate Assembly, I urge our Delegates to consider the many benefits that Wi-Fi will bring to our Village, and to reject the malcontents attack on this forward looking initiative.
-
Vote Yes on the Wi-Fi budget line, don't let a few malcontents crash a project of benefit to us all.

PS: Don't miss the Malcontents try to kill Wi-Fi in the video below. Go out to 1Hour : 48 Min. and watch 4 malcontents in turn in a clearly orchestrated attack.

THE TREND TOWARD MORE BLOGS
I guess it's been there for a while, but I just noticed the icon on this blog to conveniently switch over to Bob's blog. This is a trend worth considering: Have your own blog, and then you won't be kicked off another blog, and you can say what you want.
Perhaps in time we will all be doing this and find it therapeutic. By using two or three different blog names (one could be Anonymous) I could have a pretty hot argument with myself. Most of us argue with ourselves anyway. This way we really settle the issue. We could rake that Anonymous guy over the coals, too. Imagine, not disclosing who he is!
This gets the bad feelings out of my system. Now I can step outside and be friendly to my neighbor for a change. No axe to grind. No beef to settle. Old pals again.
The new trend definitely has some possibilities........

REFLECTION BAY LEGAL QUESTIONS
Plcruise said...
August 22, 2013 at 9:56 AM
August 22, 2013 at 9:56 AM,
If the Delegates approve and this line item is passed, UCO will become a client of the PRPC Attorney, and UCO will dispense the funds.
So, if the 3 judge panel (EN-BANC) finds for the Developer, PRPC might appeal, or might fold their tents.
In either case, they will not have direct control of the funds.
Dave Israel
August 22, 2013 at 3:20 PM
If PRPC loses this appeal, will they take their case to the next level, whatever that is? If legal funding from UCO is approved by the Delegates, will UCO be committed to PRPC's legal fight regardless where it leads, or can UCO independently decide to cut their losses and "fold their tents"?
Another thought- if the Developer loses, and decides to appeal, will CV homeowners be committed to funding another appeals process?
Sorry for the battery of questions- i guess what I am trying to figure out is - where does this end? The US Supreme Court? Do we want to fund that?

feedback please - initially and since I moved here almost 5 yrs ago, I have purchased the FEMA flood insurance tho neighbors have suggested I don't need it - being from the North, I have not yet overcome my hurricane paranoia -----do I really need it? The renewal notice just arrived and zoom - the premium really increased - probably due to new FEMA flood maps ---which I have examined ---am I just really paranoid or does anyone else in CV purchase it? Thanks to the CV branch of the Oracle of Delphi for input.

Men have Bad Aim
Sometimes the garbage truck driver has trouble replacing the dumpster in its right spot, did anyone see this one happen, assuming it was Advanced Disposal, it was AD's day? The hedge is ripped out and moved several yards!
I would love to see all dumpsters properly screened (as the village was originally designed).

The French Connexion
Approximately 150 French speaking members of Century Village, also members of le Cercle des Bons Amis, met in Chambly Quebec on August 14th. This annual gathering of ''snowbirds'' is the ideal time to link the marvellous activities of last winter in CV and share our hopes and goals of the next winter season. Of course we inquire about each other's health, share a good meal, a glass of wine, a few dancing steps after the meal and a visit of local tourist attractions. Life is good !

Retirees Visit a Bar
Four
old retired men are walking down a street in Yuma, Arizona. They turn
a corner and see a sign that says, "Old Timers Bar - ALL drinks
10 cents."
They
look at each other and then go in, thinking this is too good to be
true. The old bartender says in a voice that carries across the room,
"Come on in and let me pour one for you!
What'll
it be, gentlemen?" There's a fully stocked bar, so each of the
men orders a martini. In no time the bartender serves up four iced
martinis, shaken, not stirred and says, "That's 10 cents each,
please."
The
four guys stare at the bartender for a moment, then at each other.
They can't believe their good luck. They pay the 40 cents, finish
their martinis, and order another round. Again, four excellent
martinis are produced, with the bartender again saying,"That's
40 cents, please." They pay the 40 cents, but their curiosity
gets the better of them. They've each had two martinis and haven't
even spent a dollar yet. Finally one of them says, "How can you
afford to serve martinis as good as these for a dime apiece?"
"I'm
a retired tailor from Phoenix ," the bartender says, "and I
always wanted to own a bar. Last year I hit the Lottery Jackpot for
$125 million and decided to open this place. Every drink costs a
dime. Wine, liquor, beer it's all the same." "Wow! That's
some story!" one of the men says. As the four of them sip at
their martinis, they can't help noticing seven other people at the
end of the bar who don't have any drinks in front of them and haven't
ordered anything the whole time they've been there. Nodding at the
seven at the end of the bar, one of the men asks the Bartender,
"What's with them?"
The bartender says, "They're retired people from Florida . They're waiting for Happy Hour when drinks are half-price, plus they all have coupons..."

GATE ACCESS ENTRY SYSTEM
I really like the new gateaccess website and am using it ---being a curious person, I decided to view the entry log back to dec 08 when I moved in ---I am one of those persons who keeps names of persons I am going to allow entry noted on my daily calendar - I noticed several names I did not recognize - no they were not delivery persons --and I even saw one "denied" and also code given? and an entry on New Years Day - I had no visitors that day ----so all in all - just made me wonder -I plan to keep an eye on the entry log now - has anyone else checked their entry log? No, it's not that I have too much time on my hands-----Thanks Dave and all who made this program available and so user friendly.

What is Colombian Breakfast
I followed the flag sign waving outside the
Okeechobee gate (a few yards left, then on your right) to Los Parceros.
The regular breakfasts all come with homemade hot chocolate (they got
me), or coffee. Their dishes all day look like big portions to me,
see menu below. I had the smallest breakfast, scrambled eggs with
onions, scallions and tomatoes, + corn cake with fresh cheese. $3.25
Very tasty! This would give you strength for P&Z permits (moi)
or a few hours at UCO.
Thursday is $.50 empanadas all day ...

Good Neighbors and Golf Course Issues
Century Village seems to have more than its share of disputed. These disputes breed a dispute mentality and that, in turn, breeds more disputes.
Maybe we can resolve one dispute as good neighbors and begin a pattern for some of the other issues that lower our joy of living here and make the type of legal actions we all read about more acceptable than they should be on our home.
We should end the legal action associated with the golf course development and work toward a mutually agreeable set of land covenants that would bind the developer to reasonable actions that both sides accept after negotiation and compromise.
Eventually the County Commissioners will agree to some type of development rather than encouraging the developer to allow the land to be taken, for example, for non-payment of taxes that might happen if all development is refused.
I suggest a negotiating committee be formed with four people from units that directly face the property and two people from the CV community. If necessary, a facilitator or mediator be retained and paid partially by CV and partially by the developer.
The result would be a set of land covenants that both sides aggree would replace the existing restrictions on any development.
We could begin the negotiations by urging:
1. the present fence be relocated to be a minimum of 25 feet from any CV unit.
2. Retail development be restricted to the area near Haverhill Rd. with the balance to be used for lower traffic facilities such as an extended care facility.
3. No access from CV to and from the developed property is to be built or used unless CV agrees to a secure staffed gate with security equal to the present CV gates.
4. The boundary between the two properties should be lighted and landscaped by the developer .
This is a fair start. The critical item is that CV agrees to support development with an agreed set of restrictions applied to the land and will work with the developer to gain the necessary approval from the County Commissioners.
This is better than continuing an expensive fight we will ultimately loose.

NO TERM LIMITS REMAIN THE ORDER OF THE DAY - DELEGATES SHOW UP IN FORCE!
-
-
Despite the fact that it is high summer, and normally, attendance is low, 166 Delegates attended our Delegate Assembly meeting, to send a strong message to the "usual suspects" who came to disrupt our meeting that; no officer of UCO shall be term limited.
-
Thanks to our Delegates, who would not be bullied and intimidated by the small corps of disrupters, who bring nothing to the table but dissension and frivolous motions. I look forward to the election in March, to see how the new Bylaw will play out.

TERM LIMITS - HERE WE GO AGAIN
-
FRIVOLOUS = Not having any serious
purpose or value! -
-
On Friday, July 5, 2013 at the meeting of the
-
Delegate Assembly, the Delegates voted by a
solid majority to sweep away term limits for all
Officers of UCO.
-
Now a scant month later comes a petition to
place term limits on all Officers of UCO.
This petition is typical of the disruption and
dissension which has been visited on our
Delegate Assembly meetings for 3 years, by a
very small group.
-
Please do not allow the "Usual Suspects"
to obstruct the clearly stated majority intent. I
ask that
our Delegates overwhelming reject the
frivolous motion
to return Term Limits to our UCO Officers
